The Alevè Wood Visitor Center of Casteldelfino is dedicated to the Swiss Stone Pine Wood of Alevè, in the Varaita Valley, at the foot of Monviso. Inside the museum, following a route, visitors can watch the collections inside display cabinets, windows and dioramas. The visitor center recreates what can be found inside the Alps Wood full of swiss stone pines. The wood, indeed, covers an area of 825 hectares and has ancient origins: it was known by the Romans too. As a matter of fact the word "Alevè" in occitan language means swiss stone.
Visitor center handicap-accessible.
